ZTE Grand S II with 5.5-inch 1080p display launched in India for Rs. 13,999

ZTE today announced the launch of its Grand S II smartphone in India with a competitive price tag of Rs. 13,999. The company has partnered with Amazon India to exclusively selling the smartphone online in the country.

ZTE Grand S II features a 5.5-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 pixels (full-HD) resolution and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset which has a 2.3GHz quad-core CPU, Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The smartphone has 16GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB through a microSD card.

There is a 13-megapixel camera sensor available on the rear side along with LED flash and a 2-megapixel camera sensor is available on the front. The smartphone has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, NFC and a microUSB port on the connectivity front and supports HSDPA network in India for voice and data access.

The Grand S II runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system with Mi Favor interface that provides users a new multitasking experience. Lastly, there is a 2,500mAh battery pack which is expected to deliver at least a single day backup.

On announcing the launch, Sudhir Gaur, Mobile Business Head, ZTE India, said:

“To reiterate ZTE’s commitment to Indian Market, we have set up almost 300 service centers across the country with the introduction of ‘Hub and Spoke’ model. We want to provide our consumer with the best of service hence this model has been introduced for world class assistance. ZTE Grand S II is the reflection of our plans for the Indian market and this will followed up with more flagship models in the next couple of months.”

ZTE has adopted ‘Hub and Spoke’ model for customer service and these centers are now open in major cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Pune, Kolkata and Delhi and it has approximately 300 service centers across the country and plans to expand to 600 outlets. Additionally, the company has tied up with five regional distributors with geographical focus for market expansion.

The Grand S II will be available for sale on Amazon India later today.

Considering the mid-range price tag and high-end specification list, the Grand S II would be available as the closest alternative to recently discontinued Xiaomi Mi3 and would give a tough competition to OnePlus One, which is set to be launched in India tomorrow.
