Asus today finally announced the launch of its Zenfone 3 series in India. The new range of Zenfone smartphones comes in multiple variants with a starting price of Rs. 18,999.
“We are ecstatic to introduce the ZenFone 3 series, which redefines luxury with superior performance and design, to consumers in India, one of our priority markets globally,” said Jerry Shen, chief executive officer, Asus, in a statement.
Under the new Zenfone series, Asus launched the Zenfone 3 as well as announced the Zenfone 3 Deluxe, Zenfone 3 Ultra and Zenfone 3 Laser. The Zenfone 3 will be available in the Indian market starting August 17 with an initial price of Rs. 21,999, whereas the other Zenfone models will go on sale in the country from September.
The Asus Zenfone 3 comes as a successor to the last year’s Zenfone 2. The smartphone features a 5.2-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels (full-HD) resolution and is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. It has 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage and a 3,000mAh battery. Further, there is a 16-megapixel rear camera sensor and 8-megapixel front camera sensor.
Apart from the base model, Asus has brought the Zenfone 3 Deluxe as its high-end variant. This model comes with a premium price tag of Rs. 62,999 and sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display as well as the latest Snapdragon 821 chipset with up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The Zenfone 3 Ultra, on the other hand, emerged as a large-screen offering by the Taiwanese giant and comes at Rs. 49,999. It has a 6.8-inch display with full-HD resolution and Snapdragon 652 chipset. There is 4GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, 23-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera sensor and a 4,600mAh battery.
To hit the affordable market segment, Asus has the Zenfone 3 Laser that will be available for Rs. 18,999. The smartphone has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 430 processor and 4GB of RAM. Also, there is 32GB of internal storage and a 3,000mAh battery.
All the Zenfone 3 series models come with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS and feature a fingerprint sensor that takes 0.3 seconds to unlock the display. There is also Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with the newest ZenUI on top.
The Zenfone smartphones will be initially available for purchase through e-commerce sites like Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm, Snapdeal, ShopClues, TataCliQ and in chain store Sangeetha Mobiles. However, the company has also scheduled its offline retail policy for the end of this month.
In addition to the new Zenfone range, Asus launched its slimline Zenbook 3 and versatile Transformer 3 Pro at its event in New Delhi. The upgraded Zenbook laptop will be available for Rs. 1,47,990, while the enhanced Transformer model will come at Rs. 1,44,990. Both the devices will go on sale starting October this year.
