Xiaomi unveils 55″ Mi TV 2 with Bluetooth-enabled subwoofer and soundbar

Alongside announcing the Redmi 2A, Xiaomi today unveiled the 55-inch Mi TV 2 at its fifth anniversary event in China. The new smart TV is bigger version of the recently launched 40-inch Mi TV 2.

Xiaomi’s Mi TV 2 55-inch model features an Ultra-HD (3840 x 2160 pixel) Samsung LCD panel with 178-degree viewing angles and 4000:1 contrast ratio. There is an MStar 6A298 chipset, which is powering the television along with a 1.4GHz quad-core Cortex-A17 CPU, Mali-760 MP4 GPU and 2GB triple-channel DDR3 RAM. Furthermore, the smart TV has 8GB eMMC 5.0 flash storage, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi support and 2x2MIMO antenna.

The 55-inch Mi TV has Dolby MS12 virtual surround sound technology and comes along with a re-designed Bluetooth subwoofer and soundbar to produce impressive sound. There are three HDMI 2.0 and a pair of USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports.

Xiaomi has used a slim 15.2mm frame for making the new Mi TV 2 model and has provided 6mm bezels. There is Android operating system in terms of software along with the company’s proprietary MIUI TV skin on top.

The 55-inch Mi TV 2 model will be available China with a price tag of 4,999 Chinese Yuan (approximately Rs. 50,400). The sale will begin in the country starting April 8. However, there is no word on its availability and price in the global markets.
