Although many of its fans were eagerly waiting for the Redmi Note 2 Prime, Xiaomi has finally announced the launch of the Redmi Note Prime in India as its next Redmi Note series offering. The new smartphone comes with a price tag of Rs. 8,499 and features the design that debuted on the Redmi Note last year.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime is claimed to be the company’s second ‘Made in India’ smartphone following the Redmi 2 Prime. It has been assembling at the Foxconn’s facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
As an upgrade over the Redmi Note 4G, the Redmi Note Prime has a newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset based on 64-bit architecture, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB on-board storage. The smartphone also has a microSD card slot for expanding the built-in storage by up to 32GB. Apart from the few tweaks, the Redmi Note Prime is quite identical to the first-generation Redmi Note. It has a 5.5-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) resolution and a 13-megapixel rear camera sensor along with an LED flash.
The Redmi Note Prime is a 4G LTE-enabled smartphone with dual-SIM card support. The smartphone runs on Android Lollipop operating system with MIUI on top. Also, it packs a 3,100mAh Lithium-ion Polymer battery, which is claimed to deliver up to 45 hours of talk time and 775 hours of standby time.
The smartphone has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a microUSB port with USB OTG support. It also has dual-microphone support and comes in a plastic build that has a white color removable back panel.

Xiaomi has partnered with Amazon India for exclusively selling the Redmi Note Prime online in the country. The smartphone will go on sale starting 10 a.m. on December 15.
