After all speculations, Xiaomi Redmi Note is finally set to be launched in India next week. The company has sent out invites for an event scheduled for November 24 to launch the anticipated smartphone.
Xiaomi had showcased the Redmi Note smartphone in July, alongside of launching the Mi3 and announcing the launch of the Redmi 1S. The company announced at that time that the smartphone will be available in the Indian market with a competitive price tag of Rs. 9,999, although there are expectations that the price would even be reduced to a further extent to persuade the buyers.
The Redmi Note is Xiaomi’s answer to all large-screen smartphones which often called phablet in the smartphone market. The smartphone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system with MIUI skin on the top.
Specification-wise, the Redmi Note is a decent mid-range smartphone with a 5.5-inch HD display, octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor, 2GB RAM, 8GB on-board storage, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera and a 3,100mAh battery. The smartphone has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and a microUSB port on the connectivity front and has dual-SIM support with dual-standby technology.
Beijing-based Xiaomi entered India earlier this year with partnering Flipkart to sell its devices online in the country. The company began its business with selling its mid-range Mi3 and also brought its Redmi 1S to lead the entry-level smartphone market.
According to a recent report by IDC, Xiaomi became the third largest smartphone maker in the world with shipping 17.3 million smartphones over the last quarter. The company resulted three-fold growth in shipments from the same quarter last year which resulted its remarkable success in the Asian markets.
