Xiaomi Redmi 1S second batch sold out in India within 4.5 seconds

Xiaomi Redmi 1S, the latest entry-level Chinese smartphone, came up for sale in India earlier today but the entire stock went off within a 4.5 seconds. It was the smartphone’s second round of sale as it debut on Flipkart on September 2 with a price tag of Rs. 5,999.

Xiaomi brought 40,000 units of the Redmi 1S for over 3,00,000 registered users who had pre-registered the smartphone on the online marketplace till September 8.

Xiaomi vice president for international operations Hugo Barra revealed the short time span within which the entire stock of the Redmi 1S sold out on Flipkart earlier today through his Twitter account.

Beijing-based Xiaomi launched its Redmi 1S smartphone in India in July, alongside the Redmi Note and Mi3 smartphones. The company started its pre-registration process for the first flash sale of its Redmi 1S on August 26 and made it available on September 2.

Similar to the second batch, Xiaomi brought as many as 40,000 units of the Redmi 1S but the entire stock was sold out in an even short span of 4.2 seconds.

The Redmi 1S is the company’s entry-level smartphone which comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system and there is MIUI skin on the top. In terms of specifications, the smartphone has a 4.7-inch HD IPS display, 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage which can further be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card support. While an 8-megapixel camera is available on the rear along with an LED flash, a 1.6-megapixel camera is available on the front.

The next sale of Xiaomi Redmi 1S is scheduled for September 16 and pre-registrations will start from 6p.m. today. Customers are required to login to their Flipkart account for pre-registering the smartphone.
