Xiaomi Mi3, one of the most popular mid-range smartphones, is reportedly set to make its comeback in India during Diwali. Beijing-based Xiaomi suspended the sales of the Mi3 last month to focus on its entry-level Redmi 1S smartphone.
According to a report by Deepak Dhingra of 91Mobiles, Xiaomi India’s Head of Operations Manu Kumar Jain confirmed the availability of the Mi3 while speaking to the attendees at the ongoing Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) in Bangalore.
Jain said that the Mi3 will again go on sale in India through Flipkart during Diwali. However, the exact date of availability and the number of total units available for sale are yet to be revealed.
Xiaomi so far sold as many as 95,000 units of the Mi3 in India through its six flash sale rounds on Flipkart. Though the smartphone was in high demand and taking on the competition in the mid-range segment, the company suddenly stopped its sale on the online marketplace.
In an earlier conversation with TechOne3, Xiaomi’s Global Vice President Hugo Barra said that the company suspended Mi3 sales in India to focus all its attention and efforts on the Redmi 1S.
Xiaomi came into the Indian market with its Mi3 smartphone in July, following the sale of its Redmi 1S smartphone. The company is also set to start selling the Redmi Note in the country in the coming weeks.
The Mi3 is one of the company’s most successful smartphones in Indian as well as global market. The smartphone with high-end specifications and an affordable price tag is already praised in the reviews by the international media as well as by its users in the global markets.
On the specification front, the Mi3 has a 5-inch 1080p display, 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB on-board storage and a 13-megapixel rear camera along with dual-LED flash. The smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and features MIUI skin on the top to give users a fresh feel over stock Android.
