Xiaomi launches Mi Band in India for Rs. 999

Xiaomi has officially launched the much-anticipated Mi Band in India at its global launch event in New Delhi. The new fitness tracking smart band will be available for purchase through the company’s Mi.com with an affordable price of Rs. 999.

The company will start the sale of its Mi Band in the country from April 28. Meanwhile, it is set to give away first 1,000 units to the customers for Re. 1.

The Xiaomi Mi Band is a fitness tracking wearable that comes in a variety of colors. There is IP67 built to let users wear the band even under rain or while they are swimming.

In terms of fitness tracking features, the Mi Band provides real-time sleep and activity records through an app which is available for free download on Android and iOS devices.

Apart from fitness tracking, the Mi Band can be used to unlock the paired smartphone as well as to provide real-time notifications on new calls and messages.

The band packs a battery that is claimed to deliver up to 30-day battery life on a single charge and there is Bluetooth 4.0 LE support. Furthermore, Xiaomi claims that it has tested the Mi Band on high and low temperatures as well as promises its drop-resistant ability.

The main unit of the Mi Band is made of an aluminium alloy core, while its wrist strap is made of hypoallergenic silicone material. Besides, there is a military-grade accelerometer to offer fitness and sleep tracking features.

Alongside its Mi Band, Xiaomi launched the Mi 4i smartphone in India as its first flagship designed for the Indian customers. The smartphone comes with a price tag of Rs. 12,999 and has a decent mid-range specifications that includes a 5-inch 1080p display, 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.
