Xiaomi to conduct first flash sale in Europe and US on May 19

After bringing the flash sale trend to India and some other Asian regions, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is now all-set to enter Europe and the US with its same business model next week. The company has scheduled the first flash sale of its accessories that include Mi Headphones, Mi Power Banks and Mi Band fitness tracker.

The first flash sale will run as a “beta test sale” through Mi.com store in the UK, France and Germany on May 19. Alongside the beginning of sale in the three Europe regions, the Beijing-based company has planned to open its Mi Store in the US on the same date.

Xiaomi on Friday made the announcement of its beta test sale through a Facebook post. The post reveals that “very limited quantities” of the Mi accessories will be available for the first flash sale round.

Similar to its flash sale rounds in India, customers need to sign up on Mi.com and will have to log in early before the sale begin to place their orders on May 19. The company has not yet revealed details on the total amount of stock available for the flash sale. But the entire stock is expected to be sold out in just a matter of few seconds.

Originally founded as a startup in 2010 by serial entrepreneur Lei Jun, Xiaomi sold over 61 million smartphone units last year. It raised $1.1 billion funding in December last year at a valuation of $45 billion

Xiaomi entered India in July last year to start selling its affordable devices. Initially, it partnered with Flipkart for exclusively selling its devices in the Indian market but it announced the expansion of its business

Apart from China and India, Xiaomi operates its business in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Philippines.
