Windows Phone 8 running entire Lumia portfolio to get Windows 10 update
In a surprise move, Microsoft has announced that it will seed Windows 10 update to all Windows Phone 8 running Lumia devices. The update is expected to be available next year as an over-the-air (OTA) update.
Microsoft, in response to a query, tweeted through official Lumia account that Windows 10 update will be available for all Windows Phone 8 running Lumia devices. The tweet does not give any details about the update schedule, although the update is expected to be started rolling out soon after the official release of Windows 10 operating system in mid-2015.
Apart from releasing update for the existing Lumia devices, the tweet suggests that Microsoft would unveil its new Windows 10-based Lumia devices in the coming future.

Microsoft announced Windows 10 in September as its new operating system, succeeding Windows 8.1. The new operating system will be available for a variety for form-factors and devices, ranging from mobile devices to PCs.
Microsoft Windows 10 features an enhanced Start menu which has resizable live tiles and a search bar with Bing integration. The operating system is designed to give users an enhanced touchscreen experience along with a support for gestures.
Windows 10, specifically on mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, comes with a compatibility to support multi-touch enabled display panels from 4-inch screen size and is rumoured to have split-screen multitasking support for large-screen featuring smartphones.
