In a race with other competitors, Vodafone India has dropped prices of 2G data plans in the country by 80 percent. The telecom operator has issued a statement recently to announce the reduction of 2G data charges in three circles, the new cheaper rates will start rolling out in regions across the country in the coming days.
On announcing the reduction in data charges, Vivek Mathur, Chief Commercial Officer, Vodafone India said;
“We, at Vodafone, want to accelerate mobile Internet adoption this 80 percent reduction in data charges for customers using 2G network is an important step in this direction.”
Vodafone India has slashed the price from 10 paisa per 10 KB to 2 paisa per 10KB in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh West and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh circles. The cheap rates are currently only offered in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh West and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh circles, other regions will get the new pricing in the coming days.
The new rates would be applicable for all pre-paid and post-paid customers using 2G network without any monthly plan. Vodafone India has also stated that it is building content partnerships, simplifying pricing, educating retailers and offering customization to the consumers. We believe that soon some other competitors will also follow the same price pattern in the coming weeks.
