Alibaba Group-owned UCWeb today claimed that UC Browser has reached a new milestone of registering over 50 percent market share in India. The web browser is competing against Opera web browser in the country.
On the sidelines of IAMAI Affiliate Summit 2015 in New Delhi, UCWeb has announced that its market share raised a steep 15 percent in the last 12 months alone and one in every two mobile page viewed in India is accessed via UC Browser. The web browser hit 100 million daily active users worldwide in December last year and is claimed to have reached 16.82 percent worldwide market share as of September 2015, becoming the second most popular mobile browser after Google Chrome.
On announcing the new achievement, Kenny Ye, Managing Director of UCWeb India, Alibaba Mobile Business Group, said:

The company has additionally announced the launch of UC Open Platform 2.0 in the country that offers an ecosystem to help Indian mobile internet players to acquire users and monetise traffic. The platform was originally launched last year to bring mobile developers, content providers, publishers and advertisers on board to offer services for brand promotion, traffic acquisition, actionable user metric analysis, IP protection and monetisation.
UC Open Platform provides localised operations and integrated promotion services through three global products – UC Browser, 9Apps & 9Game and UC Union.The company claims that 9Apps & 9Game has seen an increased user base of 140 million through global monthly active users, while UC Union is touted as the leading traffic monetisation platform in the country with over 4,000 daily campaigns.
Earlier this month, UCWeb launched UC Browser 10.7 for Android. The new version came with personalised features and an offered an improved way to discover and access web content.
UC Browser is claimed to be available on more than 3,000 different mobile devices from over 200 manufacturers and is available across 150 countries and regions globally.
