Twitter to drop Android, iOS, AIR TweetDeck apps and remove Facebook integration

Twitter has recently announced that in order to serve the users efficiently and to focus on the development efforts on their modern, web-based versions of TweetDeck, the micro-blogging platform is all set to drop the support for Android, iOS and AIR TweetDeck apps. According to the official blog post, older apps including TweetDeck AIR, TweetDeck for Android and TweetDeck for iPhone will be removed from their respective app stores in early May and these apps will stop functioning soon thereafter. Twitter is also going to discontinue the Facebook integration support in the micro-blogging platform.

TweetDeck apps for mobile platforms going off!

Twitter has also announced that TweetDeck AIR, TweetDeck for Android and TweetDeck for iPhone are developed on the v1.0 of Twitter’s API. But the micro-blogging giant is going to retire the API starting this month, which may result some kind of outages on all the apps developed on the platform interface including all the three TweetDeck apps for Android, iOS and AIR.

As Twitter focused primarily on the web app and Chrome app from the past 18 months, the micro-blogging giant recommends to use TweetDeck web apps and Chrome app which is claimed to be more enhanced with several new features including notifications, auto-complete search term, search filters and many more. Twitter is also hiring from the past six months to enhance the user experience from these web apps.

On the part of Facebook integration, Twitter does not reveal any further information, we presume that the integration will be removed in the coming future. Moreover, Facebook would introduce some new feature to integrate tweets within the Facebook profile, on the other side, Twitter is expected to comment on the discontinuation of the Facebook integration in the near future.

Though, the concern is shutting down the TweetDeck for Android, TweetDeck for iPhone and TweetDeck AIR, the PC and Mac native apps are still available and the support for these apps will be provided in the future as well. All the Mac users can download the TweetDeck app from the App Store, while PC users just have to visit the link for downloading the app.
