If you are annoyed of unwanted tweets from some people, then there is a good news for you! By enabling the mute feature on a Twitter account, users will no longer get tweets from that account in their timeline.

Twitter gets mute feature to get rid of unwanted tweets

Twitter provides an option to get notifications on every new tweet from an account by making it favourite. In the same sense, the micro-blogging network is now moving forward by providing an option to mute any account. In detail, muting a user on Twitter will disappear tweets and retweets in the home timeline and users will no longer receive push or SMS notifications from that user. The muted users will, however, still be able to favourite, reply to and retweet the tweets of those users who have muted them.

Adding a pinch of privacy in the new feature, Twitter said that the muted users will not know that who have muted them on the micro-blogging network and users can also unmute any of the muted users at any time.

Users on Twitter for iOS, Android and web can easily mute users by tapping more and then mute @username. To mute someone from their profile page, users are required to tap the gear icon on the page and choose mute @username.

The mute feature will be started rolling out on Twitter for iOS, Android and web in the coming weeks.
