Sony Xperia Z5, Z4 Tablet and Z3+ to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in March
Sony is set to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia Z3+ starting March this year. The over-the-air (OTA) update will be available in the UK on March 7 and afterward reach to worldwide regions.
The update schedule is announced by Sony’s UK division in response to a tweet from a user. “It’s set to roll out from March 7 from Xperia Z5 series, Z4 Tablet and Z3+ — we will share confirmed timings when its ready,” the company tweeted.
It is worth noting that Sony has mentioned the Xperia Z5 series in the tweet. This suggests that the update is likely to hit the Sony Xperia Z5 flagship as well as the Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium models at the same time.
Sony already started testing the Android Marshmallow update for the Xperia Z5 in Turkey. The update brings Android 6.0 with features like Google Now on Tap and Doze mode in addition to some tweaks for the proprietary interface.
Although Sony will provide a push notification following the arrival of the update on your Xperia device, you can manually check its availability. For this, you need to go to ‘Software update’ settings.
The Android Marshmallow update for Sony Xperia range was announced back in October last year. Apart from the flagship offerings, the Japanese company is set to offer the new Android version on the Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4. The update will also be available to the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and Xperia Z2 Tablet.
