Sony has officially announced that the Xperia Tablet Z will be launched in India anytime in the month of May, 2013. The company has made the announcement of the Xperia Tablet Z and showcased the tablet at a press event in New Delhi. On the part of pricing, Sony’s does not reveal any details at the event.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z coming to India in May!

The Xperia Tablet Z was previewed at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 and the tablet was officially announced in the month of January. The Xperia Tablet Z has a 10.1-inch display with full-HD (1200x1920p) resolution, it comes with Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system out of the box and sources have confirmed that an update to Android 4.2 will be available soon.

The Xperia Tablet Z is powered by the identical 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, as available underneath the Xperia Z smartphone. Along with a quad-core processor, there is Adreno 230 GPU and 2GB of RAM, for storage, there is 16GB/32GB internal storage which can be expandable using a microSD card with up to 64GB support.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z, specs-wise is quite similar to the Xperia Z, except the display size, as it is also a rough tablet as the flagship smartphone, Sony claims that the tablet have waterproof and dustproof capabilities. On the part of photography, there is an 8-megapixel camera on the rear and a 2-megapixel camera on the front. In terms of connectivity, the Xperia Tablet Z has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC and a microUSB port with USB host support. The tablet also feature an IR blaster to control the compatible TV sets as a remote and Sony has also added TV SlideView app which provides the TV guide right on to the tablet.

Globally, the Xperia Tablet Z has been announced in two variants as Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+LTE, but we presume that the Indian version would only have the Wi-Fi support, as the LTE is still a dream of all the Indian tech lovers. The Xperia Tablet Z packs with a 6,000 mAh battery and feature 6.9 mm slim design with 495 grams of weight.
