After being in rumours, Sony Mobile Communications finally announces the Xperia Tablet Z, featuring 10.1-inch display packs in a 6.9mm slim body design which makes the tablet slimmest in the 10.1-inch tablets segment. As the tablet uses ‘Xperia Z’ brand name, it also has waterproof and dustproof capabilities, same as the flagship smartphone, Xperia Z.
With 10.1-inch display, Sony Xperia Tablet Z spots 1,920 x 1,200 pixels (WUXGA) resolution and the display uses Mobile Bravia Engine 2 for enhanced and vivid picture quality. On the rear, there is an 8.1MP camera with Exmor R CMOS sensor which also support dark photo-shoots using ‘Auto Low Premium’ feature. For surround audio output, Sony uses ‘S-Force (Force es) Front Surround 3D’ technology to produce high-quality sound even in the slim body design. Commenting on the technology, the company claims that the virtual surround technology will use sense of spaciousness to produce audio.
The Xperia Tablet Z is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 processor with 1.5GHz clock speed and there is 2GB of RAM for heavy multi-tasking capabilities. In terms of storage, the Xperia Tablet Z has 32GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot for expansion. The Xperia Tablet Z also feature NFC and LTE using MDM9215M radio, in terms of connectivity support. Sony also uses one-touch feature for streaming wireless transmit of photos and music without any on-spot configuration for connectivity.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z comes with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system out of the box and feature two color options as Black and White. The tablet weighs 495g and packs with 6000mAh battery. There is no details on the pricing and availability as of now but the tablet will initially comes to Japanese market, however, we assume that other markets will get the tablet there after.
