Sony PlayStation 4 gets 1TB Ultimate Player Edition to take on Xbox One

Sony PlayStation 4 gets 1TB Ultimate Player Edition to take on Xbox One

Sony today finally unveiled the PlayStation 4 1TB Ultimate Player Edition to take on the 1TB version of the Xbox One console that Microsoft announced at its E3 2015 keynote earlier this month. The new PlayStation 4 version is coming to Europe and PAL territories starting July 15.

Pricing details of the new PlayStation 4 version has not yet been revealed. However, more storage will of course, cost more and the company will raise the price from the existing $399 of the 500GB version.

“Offering twice the storage of the existing PS4, you’ll be able to download more of the games you love to your PS4, extend your play with more great add-on content and save and share even more of your best gaming highlights,” Sony says in a blog post.

The PlayStation 4 1TB Ultimate Player Edition console will give a tough competition to Xbox One 1TB version with its same amount of storage. But still Microsoft has some of the popular exclusive game titles to make things difficult for its Japanese competitor.

Apart from adding the new storage version, Sony has upgraded the existing 500GB PlayStation 4 variant with an improved hardware. The upgraded version comes with product code CUH-1200 and has 10 percent weight savings and is eight percent more energy efficient than the existing PlayStation 4.

Sony has not yet detailed the upgraded PlayStation 4. However, it appears to be available alongside the 1TB version starting next month.

Both the new PlayStation 4 versions will be available for purchase through authorised outlets in India and other international markets following their debut in Europe. Price and availability details will be available locally.
