SmartThings Mobile app reaches Windows Phone Store

As Samsung earlier announced to “create a totally open smart home platform” through SmartThings, SmartThings Mobile app is now available for Windows Phone platform. The new app is quite similar to its counterparts for iOS and Android devices.

SmartThings Mobile for Windows Phone gives users the power to easily make their compatible smartphones synced with SmartThings connected devices. The app provides users important notifications about current happenings from their home and lets them secure and lock their doors, control energy use and trigger things directly from their Windows Phone smartphones.

Users need to plug in the SmartThings Hub and pair their Windows Phone smartphones for once to start using their smartphones as remote to the connected devices installed at their homes.

The app is especially designed to use Windows Phone smartphone to automatically performs actions based upon the current location of the users. This gives an enhanced smartness to the connected devices to work even when the users are not present at their homes.

SmartThings Mobile app for Windows Phone is now available for free download through Windows Phone Store. The app works with the devices running on Windows Phone 8.1 and is compatible with HD, WVGA and WXGA display featuring smartphones.

Samsung acquired Washington DC-based SmartThings in August get into the newly developed world of Internet of Things (IoT). The connected device maker is currently operates as an independent company at Samsung’s Open Innovation Center in Palo Alto to create an open smart home platform.
