Samsung introduces Galaxy NX, world’s first interchangeable-lens Android camera

After being in buzzes, Samsung finally introduced Galaxy NX camera as the world’s first interchangeable-lens Android camera. The Galaxy NX camera is also claimed to be the first 3G/4G LTE Connected Compact System Camera (CSC). The camera comes with Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system out of the box and the latest TouchWiz UI available on the top.

On unveiling the Galaxy NX camera, Myoung Sup Han, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics said;

“The GALAXY NX reflects the unique needs of a user who needs to take professional photos and share them immediately in any situation. For those who want to express themselves and the exciting moments that make up their lives quickly, easily and on the go, the GALAXY NX is an ideal choice.”

Samsung Galaxy NX has a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor and underneath, there is DRIMe IV Image Signal processor for taking pictures. The camera has Advanced Hybrid Auto Focus (AF) System which is claimed to provide crisp and vibrant shots with the shutter speed of 1/6000 seconds and 8.6fps shooting. As we speculate earlier, users can use a wide range of interchangeable lens from compact pancake lenses to an ultra-wide fisheye lens, according to the needs and preferences. The Galaxy NX camera also supports Samsung’s 45mm 2D/3D lens for taking pictures and recording videos in 3D.

The Galaxy NX has a built-in pop-up flash and an Electronic View Finder (EVF) is available which makes the camera closer to other interchangeable lens cameras. On Android part, the Galaxy NX is powered by an 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. There is 16GB internal storage which is further expandable using a microSD card. The camera has a 4.8-inch HD TFT LCD display.

The camera has 30 Smart Modes for taking pictures with effects. There is Camera Studio which added a personalize flavour in the camera with customizable settings. Samsung has also provided Story Album to create new stories with pictures and a new feature to suggest photography according to locations as Photo Suggest.

In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy NX has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and a microUSB port. The camera packs with a 4360mAh battery.
