Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge launched in India with price starting at Rs. 48,900

Samsung today launched the anticipated Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in India. Both the new flagship offerings were unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last month.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 will be available in the country with a price tag of Rs. 48,900, while the Galaxy S7 edge will come at Rs. 56,900. The Korean giant is initially bringing only the 32GB variants of the new Galaxy series smartphones. Moreover, both the models will be available in Black, Onyx, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium color options from March 18.

Free Gear VR

To persuade buyers, Samsung is giving away Gear VR headsets to consumers who pre-order the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

Specifications

The Indian version Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are powered by 64-bit Exynos 8 Octa 8890 chipset that has an octa-core processor with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The smartphones also have a hybrid SIM card slot to enable storage expansion via microSD card of up to 200GB. Rest of the specifications are just in line with their global variants.

Both the new Galaxy S models have IP68-certified build and run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. While the Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with 2560×1440 pixels resolution, the Galaxy S7 edge has a curved edge 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED display. Both have features like Always-on and Samsung Pay integration.

Samsung has provided a 12-megapixel rear camera sensor on both the Galaxy S7 models with F1.7 aperture and Smart OIS technology. Further, the smartphones have a 5-megapixel front camera sensor with F1.7 aperture and pack a 3,000mAh battery.

Unlike the last year’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge don’t have a built-in Infrared (IR) blaster. But there is a heart rate sensor, fingerprint sensor and a barometer. Also, there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, NFC and a microUSB port on the connectivity front.

Vodafone RED offer

Samsung has partnered with Vodafone India to bundle double voice and data offer with the Galaxy S7 models. The new offer will be exclusively available for Vodafone RED customers and will be valid for six months from the date of purchase.
