Samsung Galaxy S7 price to decline 28 percent in six months after launch: Report
While Samsung is yet to reveal the price of the Galaxy S7 in India, a new report surfaced to suggest that the flagship smartphone will get cheaper within months of its debut. The Samsung Galaxy S7 price is predicted to witness a significant decline of around 28 percent in just six months after its launch in the country.
Price comparison company Idealo forecasts the drop in the price of the Samsung Galaxy S7. The Berlin, Germany-based company in a blog post has reported that the new Galaxy smartphone is likely to be available for as low as Rs. 37,500 after witnessing a price drop of 28 percent from its launch price.
“After six months, the S6 was available for around 70% of the launch price. In accordance to our price forecast, expecting a similar trend to follow, Galaxy S7 may witness a price decline of around 28 percent after six months which means it might be available at a price around Rs. 37,500 – Rs. 38,000 only,” the company notes in a blog post.
Idealo has additionally designed a price prediction graph to show the price difference in the past Galaxy series flagship offerings.
“The price of every Galaxy model fell relatively quickly following the market release,” says Sumit Kuhite of Idealo in a statement. “The trend also indicates that each new model enjoys a more significant price reduction than its predecessor. While the price for the Samsung Galaxy S5 declined relatively slowly and the price evolution of S6 showed a much clearer drop after three months.”
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge as the successor to the last year’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge at the Mobile World Congress earlier this week. The Galaxy S7 will go on sale in the European markets with a price tag of €699 while the Galaxy S7 edge will be available for €799.
The new Galaxy models have several noticeable improvements over the predecessors. Both have metal build with 3D glass protection, 64-bit Exynos chipsets, QHD AMOLED display panels and Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based TouchWiz UX.
Samsung will start taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in the US on February 23. It is set to give away a free Gear VR headset with each pre-order to persuade buyers.
