Though we were expecting the Galaxy Note 5 or the Galaxy S6 edge Plus, Samsung is apparently also working on the mini version of the Galaxy S6. Some live images of the Samsung Galaxy S6 mini surfaced online to suggest the launch of the new smartphone.
The live images, courtesy PhoneArena, showcasing the design of the upcoming Galaxy S6 mini that the company would launch alongside the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge Plus next month. The images suggest that the new smartphone would have a round-edged metal built, similar to the flagship Galaxy S6, and would sport glass protection on its front and back.
Samsung has not yet revealed any details about the development of its Galaxy S6 mini. However, some initial reports claim that the new smartphone will come with mid-range specifications that include a 4.6-inch or a 4.7-inch HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 2GB of RAM, 15-megapixel primary camera sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary camera sensor.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 mini is expected to run on the latest Android Lollipop version with TouchWiz UX on top to deliver the Galaxy S6-like experience with an inferior hardware.
Samsung has a historical record of launching mini and active versions of the Galaxy S series flagships. This further hint the launch of the Galaxy S6 mini that has purportedly been leaked through the live images.
In September last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S5 mini as the mini version of its Galaxy S5 smartphone. The mini smartphone came with an official price tag of Rs. 26,499 in India that was Rs. 24,501 lesser than the price of the Galaxy S5. Despite its lower price, the smartphone had some of the key features of the Galaxy S5, including fingerprint scanner and a heart rate sensor.
The Korean giant is rumoured to launch the Galaxy Note 5 on August 12 to take on the reported Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. This also seems to be the date when the company would formally announce the Galaxy S6 mini.
