Samsung Galaxy S6 gets new update with preloaded Microsoft Office apps

Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy S6 that comes with preloaded Microsoft Office apps. The new release comes a few months after the Korean giant partnered with the software company to pre-install Office apps on its Android tablets.

Although the Samsung Galaxy S6 already has pre-installed Microsoft OneDrive and OneNote, the new software update brings the entire Microsoft Office package to the flagship smartphone. The package includes Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and is about 220MB in size. Moreover, a similar software update has also been released for the Galaxy S6 edge, which has almost the same hardware of the flagship smartphone albeit sports a dual-edge display.

Apart from Microsoft Office apps, the new software update brings some interface improvements and enhances the battery life on the Galaxy S6.

The software update is rolling out in batches, and a push notification is available to notify users on its arrival. You can manually check its availability on your Galaxy S6 by going to Settings > About phone > Software updates.

Microsoft Office for Android was released for smartphones back in May, and all the apps under the package went public from June. The company recently partnered with LG, Sony, Haier, Positivo and Wortman to pre-install Microsoft Office and Skype on their new Android tablets in addition to those manufactured by Samsung and Dell.
