Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge 128GB variant discontinued in India

Samsung has discontinued the 128GB variant of its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in India. With this new development, both the flagship smartphones are now only available in 32GB and 64GB variants.

Although it has not yet been officially announced, Samsung India eStore is no longer selling the 128GB of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. Specifications on the official online store are also showing only the 32GB and 64GB variants of both the smartphones.

Samsung India eStore confirms the discontinuation of 128GB variant of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge

Multiple sources in the retail chain have confirmed the discontinuation. Also, online marketplaces such as Flipkart and Snapdeal have removed the listing of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge 128GB variants.

“We are not receiving any stock of the 128GB variant of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge from the last couple of weeks. It could be due to less demand,” a store manager at one of the Samsung Stores in New Delhi told TechOne3.

Samsung originally launched the 128GB variant of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in India for Rs. 61,900 and Rs. 70,900, respectively. The variant was went on sale following their launch back in April and was designed to take on the 128GB variant of Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The 128GB variant had the same list of specifications that were debuted on the 32GB and 64GB variants but was offering more storage.

Last month, the price of Galaxy S6 dropped from Rs. 49,990 to Rs. 40,000. Price of the Galaxy S6 edge was also slashed following the price drop of the Galaxy S6 and is now available at an as low price as Rs. 50,000 through various online marketplaces and retail stores.
