Samsung Galaxy Grand Preview
Samsung is always trying to grab more and more market shares with new smartphones. As the trend is inclines towards larger smartphones with massive display, how can Samsung lag behind? To gain with the larger smartphones even in the mid-segment, Samsung recently announces the Galaxy Grand. As the Galaxy Grand launches in India, we at TechOne3.in got the chance to take a preview of the really ‘Grand’ smartphone in the mid-segment smartphones. As today’s market is also demanding dual SIM support, Samsung also adds the same in the Galaxy Grand, so that there is no place left in the competition. So let’s start the preview with the first impressions of Samsung Galaxy Grand.
Samsung Galaxy Grand is purely a poorman’s Galaxy Note II, as the smartphone shares same design with slightly curvy edges along with a brushed aluminium finished frame. The Galaxy Grand comes in two color options as Elegant White and Metallic Blue, the smartphone we are previewing is in white color. Starting with the front, the Galaxy Grand feature massive 5-inch display and the width of the smartphone is pretty same as the Galaxy Note II with just about 3.5mm difference. On the top of massive display, there is an earpiece at the center and a couple of sensors along with a 2MP HD camera are placed just at the right-top, same as present on the Galaxy S Duos. As the Galaxy Grand which is coming to India has dual SIM support, Samsung uses same badge on the right-top stating ‘Duos’. On the bottom of the display, there is a usual physical button on the center along with two touch-enable keys on the either sides.
On the right of the Galaxy Grand, there is a power/lock button, placed on a top position, as found on other latest Galaxy series smartphones.
On the left of the Galaxy Grand, there is giant volume rocker which is easy to use with single hand. Interestingly no lanyard eyelet found, of course considering the size there is no need of that as well.
Moving towards the back, the Galaxy Grand has an 8MP camera on the top-center along with an LED flash and a speaker-grill on the either sides. Back panel is same as the one found on the Galaxy S Duos and even as on the Galaxy Note II, however, we don’t like such back panels as the device may slip from the palm.
Overall Samsung uses identical designing as found on the Galaxy S Duos with just a larger display-size, of course the specifications are completely different. With larger display, the smartphone is of course difficult to operate by single-hand, however, the 9.6mm slim body frame helps in holding it. Turn next for details on Camera of Samsung Galaxy Grand.
