Panasonic launches HX-A1 wearable camera in India for Rs. 19,990

Panasonic today launched the HX-A1 as its first wearable camera for the Indian market. The new camera comes with a price tag of Rs. 19,990, and is capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps frame rate.

The Panasonic HX-A1 is designed to take on some popular rugged cameras such as GoPro HERO and HTC RE. It sports a light-weight build that comes in 45 grams of weight and a 1.5m waterproof and shockproof design. Also, the body of the wearable camera is dustproof and won’t freeze at a temperature of minus 10-degree Celsius. “The introduction of HX-A1 wearable camera defines Panasonic’s unrelenting pursuit of providing unmatched experience creating excitement in the action camera market,” said Gaurav Ghavri, product head, Panasonic India, in a press statement.

Panasonic HX A1 with a waterproof and dustproof build

Panasonic has provided a 1/3-inch MOS sensor on the HX-A1 that has a resolution of 3.54 megapixels. In addition to 1080p, the camera is capable of recording videos in slow motion, with 60fps frame rate at 720p (HD) and 120fps at 480p (WVGA). It also captures still images in 2.66-megapixel resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio.

For professional video recording, the Panasonic HX-A1 wearable camera has a 0 Lux Night Mode that captures subjects with no-light japes. The camera also comes equipped with an IR filter to deliver an advanced video recording experience in dark. There is Wi-Fi connectivity to sync content with a compatible device and a microSD card slot is available with up to 128GB storage support.

Panasonic has not revealed the prices of any accessories for the HX-A1, but mentions in the statement that there will be a Multi Mount to mount the camera on goggles, shoulder bags or helmets or onto to a tripod through a Tripod Mount. A handlebar mount, extended battery, twin mount for light source, clip mount and head mount will also be available to deliver a professional video recording experience.
