Android is now becoming one of the largest activated operating system in mobile devices. Google CEO, Larry Page has announced that over 900 million Android devices activated till now with 1.5 million activation each day. Not only Android devices are hitting the peak, Google Play Store also hit with more than 50 billion app downloads since its launch. With all such achievements, Google Inc. has reported consolidated revenues of $14.11 billion for the fourth quarter of 2013.
On announcing the second quarter results, Google CEO, Larry Page said;
“Google had a great quarter with over $14 billion in revenue – up 19% year-on-year. The shift from one screen to multiple screens and mobility creates tremendous opportunity for Google. With more devices, more information, and more activity online than ever, the potential to improve people’s lives even more is immense.”
Larry Page has stated in its speech on the earning call that Google has paid more money to Android developers in 2013 than in the whole of 2012. This certainly pointed out that in the current year more users have downloaded apps, especially paid apps, for their Android devices than the past year which resulted more payments to Android developers in the current year than the past records.
At Google I/O 2013 in May, Page revealed that over 48 billion apps were downloaded and now the figure is swiftly moved to 50 billion. The record of 50 billion app downloads is now giving a tough competition to Apple App Store as the Cupertino giant announced 50 billion app downloads sometime back in May.
