Nokia Lumia 920 on the way to India!

According to the specs, Nokia Lumia 920 for the Indian market will support 9 frequency bands as GSM 850MHz, GSM 900MHz, GSM 1800MHz, GSM 1900MHz, WCDMA Band V (850MHz), WCDMA Band VIII (900MHz), WCDMA Band IV (1700MHz), WCDMA Band II (1900MHz) and WCDMA Band I (2100MHz). The number of frequency bands shows that the smartphone will support 4G Frequency-Division Long-Term Evolution (FD-LTE) and moreover, on the best part, the Lumia 920 is one of the most supportive 4G-LTE capable smartphone, support almost all the FD-LTE or FDD-LTE connectivity networks. But on the other part, in India, 4G network supports Time-Division Long-Term Evolution (TD-LTE) with frequency bands as 2300MHz and 2400 MHz range, the range is not supported by the Lumia 920 which clearly shows that the smartphone will not support 4G-LTE connectivity in India.

According to a recent report by one of the popular news portal, The Hindu states that one Nokia spokesperson confirms that the Lumia 910 will not be compatible with India’s 4G network by saying;

“The initial version, which is expected to be launched very soon, will not be able to access 4G LTE in India.”

Of course, Nokia Lumia 920 is not the first smartphone in the country with an incompatible 4G-LTE connectivity, other flagship smartphones by major competitors also does not support Indian LTE connectivity. Popular smartphones in the year 2012, Samsung Galaxy S III and Apple iPhone 5 also stand in incompatible LTE connectivity smartphones connectivity in the country. Moreover, 4G-LTE connectivity is still in its initial stage in India as the connectivity is just limited to few areas in the country and Airtel being the sole carrier till now plays monopoly in the market. We hope that the upcoming year will bring a wider 4G-LTE support in the country and we are also looking forward to Nokia Lumia 920 in the country.
