Nokia Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 officially announced at MWC

Nokia has officially announced the earlier rumoured Lumia 720 and the Lumia 520 smartphones at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 in Barcelona. Both the smartphones, the Lumia 720 and the Lumia 520 sits in-between the latest Lumia series smartphones and comes with Windows Phone 8 operating system. As we have suggested earlier, the Lumia 520 is the most affordable WP8 Lumia device, while the Lumia 720 is the inferior version than the Lumia 620.

Starting with Nokia Lumia 720, the smartphone has a 4.3-inch ClearBlack LCD display with 480 x 800 pixels (WVGA) resolution. The Lumia 720 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8227 chipset with 1GHz dual-core CPU and 512MB of RAM. For photography, Nokia has used a 6.7-megapixel camera on the rear which has BSI sensor with large f/1.9 aperture and Carl Zeiss optics. The camera also incorporates an LED flash and it is also capable of video recording at HD resolution.

In terms of connectivity, the Lumia 720 has Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC, GPS and microUSB port. As the Lumia 820, the Lumia 720 also supports wireless charging capability using a Wireless Charging back-cover accessory. The smartphone has 8GB of internal storage along with a microSD card support with up to 64GB storage. The Lumia 720 packed with a 2000mAh battery which is claimed to give up to 520 hours of standby time on a 3G network.

The Lumia 720 smartphone will be available with the estimating price tag of €249 (Rs.17.8K approx.). The availability will starts from first quarter on the present year and reach Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore. Other regions including Europe, Asia, Africa and India will get the Lumia 720 in the second quarter.

Coming towards the Lumia 520, the smartphone has a 4-inch WVGA display, Nokia has used a super sensitive touch for fingernail and glove use. As we expected, there is a 5-megapixel camera on the rear with HD video recording capabilities. The Lumia 520 is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor with 512MB of RAM, for storage, there is 8GB of internal storage along with microSD card support for expansion.

In terms of connectivity, the Lumia 520 has Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and a microUSB port. The Lumia 520 is packed with a 1430mAh battery which is claimed to give 360 hours of standby time.

Nokia Lumia 520 will be available with the estimating price of €139, it will be available in Hong Kong and Vietnam in the first quarter of the present year while the markets in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia, including China and India, will get the smartphone in the second quarter of the present year.
