Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 affordable 3G feature phones announced

Nokia has announced two new feature phones with 3G support, dubbed as Nokia 207 and Nokia 208. While the Nokia 207 will only come in a single SIM variant, the Nokia 208 will be available in two variants as a single SIM and a dual SIM variant. Both the feature phones are designed to be as affordable phones with candybar design.

On announcing the Nokia 207 and Nokia 208, Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia said;

“The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 are designed for people who like a classic phone and traditional keypad but don’t want to miss out on smartphone experiences, like staying connected to social media and accessing the Internet. As our most affordable 3G devices yet, the Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 offer a perfect balance of performance, features and quality.”

The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 are closely related to each other in terms of specifications, however, there are some minor differences available in some aspects. The Nokia 207 does not have a camera but the Nokia 208 has an 1.3-megapixel camera on the rear and the feature phone also has some tweaks in the camera app as voice-guided self-portrait, sequential shot and panorama mode. Also the Nokia 208 will have a dual SIM variant while the Nokia 207 will only available in a single SIM variant.

Both the feature phones are having 2.4-inch display with QVGA resolution and support 3.5G network for data access. Nokia has provided its Xpress Browser preloaded in both the feature phones and some popular social networking apps as Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp will be available pre-installed. Users can also download some apps according to their preferences through preloaded Nokia Store. The phones also support video streaming though pre-installed YouTube app.

In terms of connectivity, the Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 have Bluetooth 3.0 with Slam feature for instant sharing, a microUSB port and a 3.5mm jack for audio support. The Nokia 208 dual SIM has Nokia Easy Swap feature for swapping a secondary SIM card on the go. Both the feature phones have 256 MB flash memory and also there is a support of microSD card for expansion up to 32GB.

The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 are having split resistant keypad and feature two-piece ‘cup’-style design identical to Nokia Lumia 520. Users can also change the shell cover and add another according to their color preferences. The feature phones will be available in multiple color options as red, cyan, white and black. The single SIM variant of the Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 are claimed to have more than one month standby backup and talk time is up to 12 hours on a 2G connection.

The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 will be available in the market from the third quarter with the price tag of $68 (Rs.4K approx.).
