Microsoft took a competitive step on Tuesday and unveiled the Surface Pro 4 as a competitor against the Apple iPad Pro and the Google Pixel C. The tablet runs on Windows 10 operating system out of the box.

As a successor to the Surface Pro 3, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 features a 12.3-inch PixelSense display with 2736 x 1824 pixels resolution and is powered by up to Intel Core i7 (Skylake) processor with Intel Iris graphics. The company is offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD storage.

In terms of connectivity, the Surface Pro 4 has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, four USB 3.0, two 4K Display port and Ethernet port. The software giant claims that the tablet is capable to deliver up to nine hours of video playback on a single charge.

The tablet has an 8-megapixel rear camera sensor and a 5-megapixel front camera. Also, it comes with built-in stereo speakers with Dolby audio technology and sports stereo microphones.

Microsoft has provided Windows 10 on the Surface Pro 4 with features like Windows Hello and Continuum. The tablet additionally comes with a magnetic stylus pen.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will go on pre-order starting October 7 and will be available from October 26 in the US with a price tag of $899.
