Microsoft today formally launched the flagship Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL Windows 10 smartphones in India. Both the smartphones are running on the recently released Windows 10 Mobile and are designed to counter offerings like Apple iPhone 6s and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with high-end specifications and proprietary features.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 will be available in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs. 43,699, while the Lumia 950 XL will come at Rs. 49,399. The smartphones will be available for purchase through Amazon India as well as via offline stores including Croma and Reliance Digital starting December 11. Also, the software giant is offering a free Display Dock worth Rs. 5,999 for customers who pre-order either of the two smartphoners to enable Continuum feature.

Originally announced at Windows 10 hardware event last month, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL feature AMOLED ClearBlack display panels and sport a 20-megapixel F1.9 rear camera sensor with PureView technology and triple-LED flash. A 5-megapixel front camera sensor is also available with 1080p (full-HD) video recording support. Further, both the smartphones have dual-SIM support with 4G LTE network access.

The Lumia 950 has a 5.2-inch display with 564ppi pixel density, and is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset that has a 1.8GHz hexa-core CPU and 3GB of RAM. The Lumia 950 XL, on the other hand, comes with a 5.7-inch display with 518ppi pixel density and a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset along with 2GHz octa-core CPU and 3GB of RAM.

Both the new Lumia series smartphones have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS and a USB Type-C port. The smartphones also have 32GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 2TB via a microSD card. Besides, there is OneDrive storage.

The presence of Windows 10 Mobile on the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL brings features like Windows Hello to deliver biometric security and comes with Cortana integration. The smartphones also have Continuum feature to let users use the compatible Display Dock to mirror their on-screen content directly to a Windows 10 running PC or notebook.
