Microsoft launches Nokia Lumia 930, Lumia 830 and Lumia 730 smartphones in India

Microsoft Devices today hosted a press event in New Delhi to announce the launch of Nokia Lumia 930, Lumia 830 and Lumia 730 in India. While the flagship smartphone, Nokia Lumia 930, will go on sale from October 15 with a price tag of Rs. 38,649, the Lumia 830 and Lumia 730 smartphones will be available in the country starting October 8 for Rs. 28,799 and Rs. 15,299, respectively.

All the three smartphones run on Windows Phone 8.1 operating system and come with 1TB free cloud storage access from Microsoft OneDrive for six months.

In the new range of Lumia smartphones, the Lumia 930 is the flagship smartphone which was announced in April alongside the Lumia 630 and Lumia 635. The smartphone features a 5-inch 1080p display with Super Sensitive Touch input support and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset available underneath the aluminium frame of the Lumia 930 which has a 2.2GHz quad-core Krait 400 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The smartphone comes equipped with 32GB on-board storage for storing content.

Being a flagship smartphone, the Lumia 930 sports a 20-megapixel PureView camera sensor on the rear which comes with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and has Carl Zeiss optics. A 1.2-megapixel camera sensor is available on the front with a wide-angle lens. The smartphone has four directional microphones and Dolby Surround Sound technology to offer high-end multimedia capabilities. There is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, NFC and a microUSB port on the connectivity front and the smartphone packs with a 2420mAh battery which supports wireless charging.

The Lumia 830 is the successor of the company’s previously launched Lumia 820. Originally announced at the IFA 2014 in Berlin, the new smartphone has a 5-inch HD ClearBlack IPS display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset which has 1.2GHz quad-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. There is 16GB internal storage which can further be expanded through a microSD card. The smartphone has a 10-megapixel PureView camera sensor on the rear along with an LED flash and a 0.9-megapixel camera sensor is available on the front.

The Lumia 730, as unveiled at the IFA 2014, is the company’s first “selfie smartphone”, featuring a 5-megapixel camera sensor on the front and equipped with a wide-angle lens to produce impressive selfies and groupies. The smartphone has a 4.7-inch ClearBlack HD OLED display and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB expandable storage.

In addition to the front-facing selfie camera, the Lumia 730 has a 6.7-megapixel camera sensor on the rear which comes along with an LED flash. The smartphone has dual-SIM support and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS and a microUSB port on the connectivity front. There is a 2,220mAh battery which supports wireless charging and is claimed to provide up to 17 hours of talk time.
