Metis Learning and Intel today launched their Eddy tablet in India with a price tag of Rs. 9,999. The Android 4.2.2 running tablet is specifically designed for kids, aged between two to ten years.
The new Metis Eddy tablet is quite similar to the previously launched Eddy tablet but the new model is powered by an Intel Atom Z2520 processor and has an improved display to give kids a decent computing experience.
Metis claims that the Eddy tablet is an ophthalmologist approved device which has UV ray protection and gives lower eyestrain compared to other screens. The 7-inch IPS display panel is protected with a scratch resistant glass which comes with 9H hardness level. In addition, there is a food-grade silicone made drop-safe bumper for protecting the tablet.
The Eddy tablet has a proprietary Athena OS on the top of Android Jelly Bean which is claimed to provide a child-safe interface that comes with parental controls such as time discipline, usage reports and kid-safe Internet browsing. The company has partnered with Google’s top education app providers like Intellijoy, Tipitap and iStoryBooks among others to provide preloaded learning content.
On announcing the launch of Eddy with partnering Intel India, Bharat Gulia and Chanpreet Arora, co-founders of Metis Learning Solutions, said:

On the specification front, the Eddy tablet has 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, microSD card support and a 2-megapixel front and rear camera sensors and a 2800mAh battery.

Metis has partnered with Amazon India for exclusively selling the Eddy tablet online in India. As an introductory offer, the tablet is available at a discounted price of Rs. 8,499 and comes preloaded with Rs. 1,500 worth of kids-centric content.
