Meerkat for iOS now supports live video streaming from GoPro cameras

Meerkat for iOS has been updated to let you live stream videos directly from your GoPro. The live video streaming support is initially compatible with GoPro HERO3 and HERO4 action cameras.

The updated Meerkat for iOS allows you to easily start streaming live videos from your GoPro. Firstly, you need the latest version of Meerkat app on your iOS device and a compatible GoPro camera.

Once you have your GoPro camera and the iOS device, you need to connect the camera with the device through a Wi-Fi network and then open Meerkat app. Thereafter, you just need to shake your iOS device to start the live video streaming from your GoPro.

Meerkat has not yet released GoPro live streaming support for Android devices. However, it says that a similar update is in development for Android as well.

Live video streaming from GoPro cameras on Meerkat appears to be a competitive move by the company to take on Twitter’s Periscope that already got huge popularity in the world of live streaming apps.

In May, Twitter’s Periscope updated with an option to let users sign up without using a Twitter account. The app also reached to Google Play Store with Material Design elements to take on Meerkat for Android that debuted on the platform a couple of months ago.
