On a move to compete with Facebook’s Stickered for Messenger app, Japanese messaging app developer LINE Corporation has released LINE Stickers app for Android and iOS. The app requires LINE account to let users add sticker tags in their conversations.
LINE Stickers app gives users a timeline where users can see the sticker tags attached by LINE users from each country and a Ranking tab is there to show sticker tags on the basis of their ranking. Users need to get many likes on their sticker tags to list them into the Ranking tab.
Tagged stickers can have likes and comments from other LINE users as well as can get new mentions, similar to social networks like Facebook and Instagram. In addition, users can search for any tagged stickers by going into Search tab.
LINE claims that its Stickers app serves over a million stickers to suit different occasions. Moreover, users can get new sticker packs or reach to the LINE Sticker Shop directly through the new app.
LINE Stickers app requires at least Android 4.0.3 or iOS 7.0 for its operations.
The new app seems to be the company’s strategy to influence more smartphone users to ultimately expand its user base, which is still behind some of the leading instant messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
In June 2014, LINE announced that it generated $1.5 million revenue through selling stickers from its Creator Markets and next month thereafter, it released LINE Selfie Sticker app to let users create stickers with their selfies.
