LG today expanded its K series with the announcement of the K5 and K8 affordable offerings. Both the new smartphones are designed with fresh looks over the company’s existing affordable models.
The LG K5 and K8 come with a metal finish frame. Also, there is the company’s glossy pebble design language that was debuted on the K10 earlier this year.
“We are aware of the diverse needs and wants of our customers around the world and our goal is to deliver the best products to meet their expectations,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications, in a statement. “The K8 and K5 will be fantastic choices for anyone who is seeking a smartphone with great looks, great looks, at a great price.”
The LG K5 is the most inferior one among the two new models. It has a 5-inch display with 854 x 480 pixels (FWVGA) resolution and a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. On the memory part, there is 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage.
LG has provided a 5-megapixel rear camera sensor and a 2-megapixel front camera sensor on the Android Lollipop running K5. Besides, the smartphone has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS and a microUSB port and packs a 1,900mAh battery.
Unlike the inferior K5, the LG K8 is a premium option in the new range. It sports a 2.5D Arc Glass on top of a 5-inch HD in-cell display. Under the hood, it has a 1.3GHz quad-core processor with up to 1.5GB of RAM.
The K8 is appeared to be highly inspired by the company’s G series as it has a volume rocker and a power button on the back. Also, there is a woven back cover that offers a secure grip.
LG has provided Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system on the K8 with its latest UX on top. The smartphone has an 8-megapixel rear camera sensor along with an LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera. Besides, there is a 2,125mAh removable battery pack.
The LG K5 will be available for purchase in Europe, CIS and Latin America, while the K8 will go on sale in Asia, Africa, the Middle East in addition to CIS and Latin America. Both the smartphones will start rolling out by this week. However, their price details will be available locally.
