LG India appoints Kim Ki-Wan as new Managing Director

LG India has just announced the appointment of Kim Ki-Wan as the Managing Director. The new appointment is effective from August and will replace Soon Kwon, who will now take over as Global Head, Information Display (ID) business based in Seoul, South Korea.

Presently, Kim is working as the Executive Vice President of  LG’s Home Entertainment Overseas Sales and Marketing Group.

LG India, the subsidiary of LG Electronics, continued to register double-digit growth in core consumer durable business in the first-half of this year as well as in the last year under the leadership of Kwon. The company introduced many new products into the market, including some flagship smartphones and wearables, in the recent past and is one of the first companies which started their local facilities in the country.

Commenting on the new development, Kwon said:

“In my endeavor to leverage the synergies of the Indian business, LG India has today grown to be among the Top 5 markets globally for LG Electronics, and maintains its leadership position in consumer durables. I congratulate Mr. Kim on his appointment and am sure under his leadership; LG India will ensure stronger growth for the company.”

Kim has over 30 years of work experience at LG, and some of his past experiences include being the CEO of MEA Regional company and the Global Marketing Officer. Currently, he is the Executive Vice President of Home Entertainment Overseas Sales and Marketing Group.
