LG today announced that it is set to launch the LG G5 in India in the next quarter. The new flagship smartphone was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) earlier this week.
The LG G5 comes with a modular type design that supports multiple modules and makes the smartphone a notable player in the market. It also comes with the LG Playground ecosystem that brings companion devices called the LG Friends, including the LG 360 VR, 360 Cam, Rolling Bot, Tone Platinum, H3 by B&O Play and Smart Controller.
“We are really happy to see all the positivity around the LG G5 ever since its global unveil at the MWC,” says Amit Gujral, Marketing head — Mobiles division, LG India, in a statement.
“In fact, in a survey conducted in Korea the LG G5 topped consumer preference leaving its closest competitors trailing far behind. We hope to make this available to users in India very soon and are optimistic that consumers will love its revolutionary design and features.”
The G5 has a 5.3-inch QHD IPS Quantum display with a 3D Arc Glass protection. Under the hood, it has a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with an octa-core CPU and 4GB of RAM. The smartphone has 32GB onboard storage with microSD card support to expand up to 2TB.
LG has provided Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with a proprietary skin on top. The smartphone has a dual-camera setup on the back with a standard 16-megapixel and wide 8-megapixel camera sensors and an 8-megapixel front camera sensor. Also, it has 4G LTE support to deliver high-speed data access.
The smartphone packs a removable 2,800mAh battery that works with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Besides, there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, NFC and a USB Type-C port.
LG hasn’t revealed the Indian price of the G5. However, it is expected to be available in the US with a price of nearly $650, which translates to Rs. 45,000 in India.
