Lenovo has unveiled the A5000 as its new affordable smartphone. The smartphone comes is set to debut in Russia with a price tag of RUB 12,000 (approximately Rs. 14,500).
The Lenovo A5000 features a 5-inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) resolution and splash-resistant coating on top. There is a MediaTek MT6582 chipset with a 1.3GHz quad-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. The smartphone has 8GB internal storage along with a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB.
For taking photos and recording videos, there is an 8-megapixel camera sensor on the rear along with an LED flash and auto-focus lens. A 2-megapixel camera sensor is additionally available on the front to let users capture their selfies and make video calls.
The Lenovo A5000 has dual-SIM support and comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and a microUSB port. Unlike the A6000 and A7000, this new smartphone has just 3G network access.
Besides, there is a massive 4,000mAh battery that packs in a 10mm thick chassis.
Lenovo has provided Android 4.4 KitKat operating system on the A5000 with its Vibe UI on top and will likely to release an Android Lollipop update in the future.
Considering the price and specifications, the Lenovo A5000 seems to be a decent option in the mid-range segment. It would soon be available to other markets apart from Russia and India is expected to be on top of that list.
