Lava International is likely to launch the rumoured next-generation Android One smartphone in India on July 27. The company has sent out invites for a press event where the new Android One could be launched.
The cryptic invite sent by Lava suggests the launch of the next-generation Android One, which was earlier reported to be held on July 14. It reads, “Witness the power of 1.”
The figure one on the invite has some sentences that are apparently highlighting some of the key features of the upcoming Android One smartphone. However, the invite does not suggest the presence of any Google executive at the event.
The next-generation Android One, which would be the improved version of the initiative that Google launched in India back in last September, is reported to have a mid-range smartphone this time. The smartphone is rumoured to come with a price tag of Rs. 12,000 and would offer an improved experience with 5-inch display, MediaTek chipset and 2GB RAM.
Google could provide Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system on the next-generation Android One smartphone. Also, there are expectations that Lava would announce its partnership with Bharti Airtel to bundle a free data package with the new Android One smartphone. The smartphone could support 4G LTE to deliver high-speed data access.
Android One was initially launched by Google with partnering Karbonn, Micromax and Spice to offer consumers an affordable smartphone experience. It was aimed to take on emerging companies like Xiaomi and Micromax’s Yu with regular Android updates.
Apart from the three initial hardware partners, Google was in development to join hands with companies, including Acer, Alcatel OneTouch, Asus, HTC, Intex, Lenovo, Panasonic and Xolo, and Lava was also included in that list.
