Jawbone UP3 and UP Move fitness trackers unveiled with slew of sensors

Jawbone today unveiled the Jawbone UP3 and Jawbone UP Move to expand its range of fitness trackers which already include the UP and UP24. The new wearables have a list of sensors to track users movement and fitness activities throughout the day.

The Jawbone UP3 band is the superior one in the series with a price tag of $179.99. This fitness tracker is specifically designed to track users heart rate, respiration, galvanic skin response, respiration rate and temperature. The band is made of an anodised aluminium with TiN coated stainless steel and TPU that makes it water-resistant up to 10 meters.

As an upgrade over the UP, the UP3 additionally uses its built-in sensors to track true sleep stages – REM, Light and Deep. The band syncs the collected data with Jawbone’s Smart Coach to bring out feedback on the sleep patterns of the users.

The UP3 has Bluetooth 4.0 for connectivity and a tri-axis accelerometer for movement tracking. The band packs with a 38mAh Li-Ion Polymer battery which is claimed to up to 7 days of power.

The Jawbone UP Move, on the other hand, is the company’s cheapest fitness tracker which is targeted to the newbies of the advanced world of fitness tracking with a price tag of $49.99. This coin-sized fitness tracking device is made from a nylon-like anodised aluminium material. Users can easily place it either in the coin pocket of their jeans or clip it on anywhere of their dresses.

The UP Move has a tri-axis accelerometer which helps users in tracking their sleep patterns and also provides them a way to track their steps, exercise and overall calories burned throughout the day using MotionX technology. The device has white, orange and blue LEDs to indicate motor time, charge state, progress and current status. There is a non-rechargeable, removable CR2032 Lithium Coin 225mAh battery which is claimed to give up to six months of backup.

While the UP Move will be available for pre-order starting November 5 and hit stores later this month, the UP3 will be available sometime later this year. Both the new fitness trackers come with UP by Jawbone app compatibility and have support to sync data with Smart Coach for feedback on their results.
