Intel and Opening Ceremony unveils MICA smart bracelet

Intel has partnered with Opening Ceremony to jointly unveil MICA (My Intelligent Communication Accessory) smart bracelet. The smart bracelet, similar to the smartwatches, is designed as a feminine fashion accessory with communications capabilities.

Chip maker Intel announced its partnership with Opening Ceremony at the CES conference in Las Vegas in January to for the development of the smart bracelet. After months of efforts by both the companies, the smart bracelet came into reality today.

Designed by Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon and Carol Lim and technology integration and industrial design expertise contributed by Intel, the smart bracelet works as “a feminine accessory blending seamlessly into everyday life”.

The smart bracelet is designed to provide smart features to women which include notifications for SMS messages, meeting alerts and general notifications that are delivered directly to their wrist.

Intel states that MICA smart bracelet will be available in two styles constructed of premium finishes with a curved sapphire glass touchscreen display. Though its price tag is yet to be revealed, one style of the smart bracelet will feature black watersnake skin, pearls from China and lapis stones from Madagascar while the other style will feature white watersnake skin, tiger’s eye from South Africa and obsidian from Russia.

The smart bracelet will be available at select Barneys and Opening Ceremony stores by the end of this year.
