HTC One M9, One M9+ to get Android M update soon

Google just announced Android M Developer Preview a couple of days back and now, it has been confirmed that HTC One M9 and the One M9+ will get the new operating system. The Taiwanese company is in development to release Android M update for both the flagship smartphones and some of its other models.

HTC’s Senior Global Online Communication Manager Jeff Gordon confirmed Android M update for the One M9 and One M9+ through a tweet. He also mentions that the same update will be available on “more devices” and details will be announced soon.

The statement made by Gordon suggests that the HTC One M9 and One M9+ will be among the first few smartphones to receive Android M update. Moreover, it hints that the same update could be available on old HTC flagships including the HTC One M8.

Android M includes simplified app permissions, Android Pay integration, Direct Share and new power management and charging capabilities. As a successor to Android Lollipop, it has several bug fixes and performance improvements to offer an improved user experience.

HTC launched the One M9 and One M9+ earlier this year with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system out of the box. In addition, both the smartphones have Sense 7.0 UI on top with proprietary features and improvements over stock Android.

The HTC One M9 is available as the successor to the last year launched One M8, while the HTC One M9+ is a phablet variant of the flagship smartphone.

In terms of specifications, the One M9 has a 5-inch 1080p Super LCD 3 display and is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (MSM8994) octa-core processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB expandable storage.
