HERE for Android now available for all Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher devices
Soon after its debut on Samsung Galaxy devices, Nokia has released HERE for Android for all Android devices running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher. Though the app is yet to debut on Google Play Store, users can download the app (APK package) from here.
Nokia says that it received “brilliant feedback” as well as “constructive criticism” for HERE for Android the moment after its exclusive release for Galaxy series devices. The feedback helped the company in making necessary changes and to provide fixes and additions in its new beta app for all compatible Android devices.
The company mentioned that the general rule for compatibility is a device with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system or greater but best results are expected with the smartphones featuring 1GB of RAM or more and a screen size between four and six inches.
HERE for Android will compete with Google Maps with its similar list of features such as voice-based guidance, turn-by-turn directions and points-of-interest. The new maps app additionally comes with offline support that let users download entire country and continents for free offline usage.
As HERE for Android is currently available for side-loading onto Android devices, the app will not get real-time updates. Users need to visit HERE Three Sixty website for getting new updates.
Nokia is also developing HERE for iOS, which is expected to bring navigation and turn-by-turn directions onto Apple’s iOS devices. The app will be available for download on Apple App Store in the coming future.
