HCL launches ME U2, ME V1 and ME Y3 tablets in India, starting from Rs.5,999

HCL has announced three new tablets in the Indian market, named as HCL ME U2, HCL ME V1 and HCL ME Y3. The cheapest in the series, the ME U2 is priced at Rs.5,999 while the ME V1 and the ME Y3 cost Rs.7,999 and Rs.11,999 respectively. All the three tablets come with an older, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system out of the box.

Starting with the cheapest, HCL ME U2 has 7-inch display with WVGA resolution. The ME U2 is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor with Mali-400 GPU and 1GB of DDR 3 RAM. The tablet comes with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system and there is 4GB of internal storage which is also expandable using a microSD card. A VGA camera is available on the front of HCL ME U2 for video conference and chatting purposes. The tablet packed with a 3,000mAh battery and of course supports Google Play Store for downloading the apps and games.

HCL ME V1

HCL ME V1

Moving towards the next one in the series, the ME V1 is the mid-range tablet with the same 7-inch WVGA display. The tablet is powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor with 1GB of DDR3 RAM, there is 4GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot. The ME V1 supports voice calling capabilities and also support 3G connectivity using a USB dongle. The ME V1 packed with a 3,200 mAh battery and only comes with HCL ME App store rather than the giant Google Play Store. The tablet also features a VGA camera on the front along with a 2-megapixel camera on the rear.

The last but not the least in the series, the ME Y3 has 7-inch WSVGA display, 1GHz Cortex A9 processor and 1GB of DDR3 RAM. The ME Y3 tablet feature a VGA front camera and a 3.2-megapixel rear camera. In terms of storage, the ME Y3 has 4GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot for expansion. Interestingly the tablet also comes with dual-SIM capabilities and a built-in FM transmitter also available. For app support, HCL ME App store is the only option pre-installed with the ME Y3 for downloading the apps and games. The tablet packed with a 3,100mAh battery and support HSUPA connectivity.

All the three tablets, HCL ME U2, the ME V1 and the ME Y3 also come with a number of pre-installed apps such as Big-Flix, Cleartrip, LinkedIn, NimBuzz, Twitter and Facebook. These tablets will be available across the country by February 2013 onwards, however, some cities will get these tablets within few days.
