Google Maps for iOS updates with night mode in navigation

Google has released an updated Google Maps for iOS. The updated app brings night mode in navigation to let you easily view routes in dark.

Night mode in the updated Google Maps for iOS (version 4.9.0) transforms the white background into a complete black background to make it easy to view a certain route in dark. In addition, the new mode makes Google Maps navigation a bit private especially when you are travelling in a public transport after dark.

Apart from the night mode in navigation, the updated Google Maps for iOS comes with an ability to label places. This new ability provides labeled places in your map, as well as let you easily find them through search suggestions.

The updated Google Maps app additionally provides you an option to edit your posted photo captions. Besides, it comes with some bug fixes and performance improvements.

You can download the updated Google Maps for iOS through Apple App Store. The updated app is 28.9MB in size and is compatible with devices running on iOS 7.0 or above.

Last month, Google released an updated Google Maps for iOS with Facebook integration to let users easily share places right on the social network. This was a major step to ditch Apple Maps on iOS platform.
