Google announces ‘Mapathon 2013’ contest in India, improve maps and win prizes
Google Maps are renowned map service and Google tries to improve the service frequently to make it best among the competition. People in India also uses Google Maps and Navigation service in their daily schedule and the search giant is now giving an opportunity as ‘Mapathon’ to all the Indians for further improving the maps and in return they’ll gift expensive prizes.
India’s first ever mapping contest, Mapathon 2013 will starts on February 12th and culminates on March 25th. The contest will be open for all the people who live in India, participants will have to help Google in create better maps for the country by adding more information about their neighborhoods. Everyone can edit the maps to improve them by using Google Map Maker.
Google Map Maker is the tool for adding more information and future improvements in the existing maps. Users can add any information according to their own local knowledge, there is also an option to refer satellite images from Google Maps to edit the existing details. After saving and submitting, the edited maps will be verified by Google authority and once the verification done, the information will be added right to Google Maps.
