Gmail for Android 4.0 and 4.1 updated, comes with auto-fit images feature along with other tweaks
Gmail app for Android 4.0 (ICS) and Android 4.1 (JB) platform updated recently. The new update adds auto-fit feature which enables all the images attached in the emails to fit according to the device screen-size. The new version also comes with pinch to zoom feature for all the images attached in the messages. Google developers additionally added swipe-to-archieve feature which helps in getting to the inbox quickly by swiping left or right while reading mails.
Users can enable auto-fit feature by going through Settings > General Settings in the app. After enabling the auto-fit feature, users can also use pinch to zoom in viewing the images. Swipe-to-archieve feature can be enabled by going through Settings > General settings > Swiping conversation list in the app.
The new version Gmail also comes with new thumbnail-view for all the photo attachments, each time whenever user open a mail containing photo attachments, thumbnails of each picture automatically created on the mail page and user can view pictures just by tapping on them. Navigation while pictures is now comes with ease, users just have swipe right or left to view all the pictures attached in a mail.

All Android 4.0 and Android 4.1 users can update Gmail app to newer version by visiting Google Play Store. The new version is not yet available for devices based on Android 2.3 or less.
